It all starts with an intro…
The Intro Session is the first step in exploring a coaching engagement together. There is quite a bit done in this short session, so I wanted to take a moment to break down a bit what the purpose of this pre-coaching session is, and what to expect.
Introductions
The Intro Session is likely the first time we’ll meet live, so there will be the opportunity to actually be introduced. I like to tell a little about my background and my high-level approach to coaching. I find that this is a good way to start to give a sense of what it will be like to work together and set up the more specifics we’ll discuss in the rest of the call. This is also a great place for you as the potential client to introduce yourself so I can get to know you a bit.
Starting Place
Wherever we’re going it is important that we start from where we are. So, determining that starting place is something that will begin to happen in the Intro Session. The starting place is not about the current state of your finances or progress toward goals. We will get into both shortly, but at this point it’s all about mindsets and goal focuses. Part of what makes financial coaching so valuable is establishing foundation and structure as opposed to jumping in for quick fixes and fast value. This work will pay off!
What a Client Wants
This session is a great place for me to get a sense of what you’re looking for out of our coaching engagement. It’s important for me to know what your expectations and intentions are for this time so I can ensure a clear picture of what you’re hoping to achieve, at least initially. The inclusion of this in the Intro Session allows us to have some discussion, raise and answer questions, and explore the possibilities here. So, it’s completely alright if you’re not clear on this going into our engagement. Not knowing is in and of itself something that coaching can help with.
Meeting the Need
Another important aspect of the Intro Session is to ensure that my coaching approach and expertise are the right fit for your goals for coaching. If it’s clear that they aren’t I will do my best to help by recommending another coach, financial professional or service, or some other avenue that will help to get you where you’re going. Trust is a vital element of coaching. Trust is built on integrity. I will not attempt to get or keep a client if the fit is just not there, or if the need has changed and a different approach or option is required.
What to Expect During Coaching
This is a great place to give some insight into what to expect from sessions during the coaching process. So, if you’re curious as to what the process of coaching looks like, what to expect from me, what will be asked of you, etc., this topic will cover the broad strokes of all of that. I’ll go over the what and why of the structure of a session more when we get into an actual engagement, but I’ll cover enough of it in this Intro Session to answer your questions and give you a firm understanding of what to expect.
The Right Fit
Such an important part of determining if a coaching arrangement is right for you is a commitment to the growth and change that the coaching process facilitates. So, knowing what it is that you’re committing to is vitally important to getting started on the right foot. Changing and evolving mindsets and behaviors can be tough work. But big focuses and hard work yield big rewards and hard benefits. In this intro session we’ll talk briefly about this commitment to personal growth and change and I can answer any questions you might have.
I hope that this overview is a helpful glimpse into what to expect from an Intro Session. Please feel free to book one today using the button below. I’m looking forward to connecting with you.
